"When Megan and I first thought about building our home, we knew we wanted to build something that was unique and that would be a pleasure to live in. After our initial meeting, we felt great about the fact that Christian had really listened to our ideas which became very evident when we viewed the initial design.
Our goal was to build a home that could be cooled by natural breezes during summer yet remain quite warm during winter with little to no assistance from other appliances. After enduring one of Queensland’s hottest summers and the coolest winter in quite some many years, we feel confident enough to say that the house really delivered on this objective. We only turned the fireplace on a few times over winter, despite the frosts that made it up our hill and during the height of some incredibly hot summer days, we were able to retire to sections of the house that were 15-20 degrees cooler than the ambient temperature outside! A real achievement.
In our opinion, whilst aesthetics and performance are hallmarks of great design, how you end up living in a space really underpins how successful the design ultimately is. As far as we are concerned, this is where Christian’s approach really delivered dividends for us, his vision has delivered a home that flows, where spaces make sense; the sum total of which has really complimented our quite varied lifestyle.
If only there were more architects like Christian. He really listened to us, our needs and our feedback. He always gave his honest advice with none of the ego. For Megan and I, our home represents a huge personal investment in terms of time, money and emotion and it was always reassuring to know that we had someone who was just as passionate as us to share in the journey of designing and building our home.
